Francesca Stramandinoli has a BEng in Computer Science Engineering and a MEng in Automation Engineering from the University of Calabria (IT).
After her graduation she worked as Research Assistant at the Department of Mathematics of the University of Calabria where she dealt with the design of CNN-based algorithms for medical images segmentation and the numerical integration of non-linear partial differential equations.
From 2010 up to 2013 she worked as Marie Curie Early Stage Researcher and PhD student at Plymouth University (UK) in the RobotDoC Initial Training Network. Her research topic revolved around the grounding of language in humanoid robots with particular attention to abstract words.
After getting her Ph.D from Plymouth University Francesca worked as Research Engineer at the Advanced Laboratory on Embedded Systems (ALES S.r.l.) and United Technologies Systems & Controls Engineering (UTSCE) in Rome (IT) where she contributed to the development of technologies to support the application of simulation-based contract verification to system of systems.
Currently Francesca is a Marie Curie Experienced Researcher within the RoboTAsk project at the Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia (IT) and Visiting Researcher within the Social Robotics Laboratory at Yale University (US).
